2018-2019 Board Bios

Chris Orszulak, President is the father of 4 children, three LMI alums and one current student. Since graduating from Amherst College with a B.A. in Economics, Chris has spent his entire career in the financial service industry at investment banking firm Keefe, Bruyette and Woods. He is a Managing Director in the equity and fixed income institutional sales business. Chris and his family reside in Longmeadow and enjoy riding their bikes to school every day!

Katie Lynk Wartman, Ph.D., Secretary is an independent education researcher who specializes in higher education assessment projects. She has worked as a consultant to a number of local and national colleges, universities, and non-profits, and is a former college administrator and teacher. She holds an AB from Bowdoin College with teaching certification, an EdM in Higher Education from Harvard Graduate School of Education, and a PhD in Higher Education from Boston College. Katie and her husband Dave have three children - one very happy current student and two proud LMI alums.

John Kole, Treasurer is a father of two children currently attending LMI. John is a partner in LRVHealth, an early-stage healthcare-focused venture capital fund based in Boston. Since graduating from Princeton University with a B.A. in International Relations and a J.D. from the University of Michigan Law School, John has spent the bulk of his career in finance and technology, primarily as a venture capital investor. He was a founding partner of Comcast Ventures, has served on the Board of Trustees of Baystate Health, and is an active software developer.

Susanne B. Chuku, Ph.D. is an Associate Professor of Economics and the Director of the Faculty Center for Teaching and Learning at Westfield State University. Her research interests are human capital and economic growth. She teaches courses in econometrics, macroeconomic theory, labor economics, economic growth and development, and money and banking. She holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management and Economics from the University in Augsburg, Germany, and an MA and PhD in Economics from Wayne State University in Detroit, MI. She and her husband Victor have two children: her son is an LMI alum and her daughter currently attends.

Susan A. Bell, Ed.D. has been serving as the Director of Member Schools Engagement for the Mastery Transcript Consortium (MTC) since July, 2018. MTC is an international non-profit that supports schools in creating secondary learning experiences that are fulfilling, challenging, and focused on students’ mastery of critical skills needed for success in college, career, and life, by changing how schools credit their work in high school. Prior to this, she spent seventeen years in various leadership positions in the Windsor Locks (CT) Public Schools, with her most recent service as Superintendent of Schools since 2014. During her tenure, she focused on systems change in helping teachers create classroom environments where children feel a sense of community and belonging in order for them to thrive and achieve excellence in all areas of their lives. Susie and her husband, David Sparks, enrolled their son (now an alum) at LMI and fell in love with the school’s philosophy, approach to teaching and learning, and attention to conservation and global awareness. Their daughter is currently enrolled at LMI and absolutely loves the school. 

Leigh Morgan recently moved back to the area with her husband and three daughters, two of whom are currently enrolled at LMI. Leigh has over 10 years of experience in online advertising, with a focus on building strong client relationships. She began her career working at Google, and most recently, directed account management teams at Twitter. She is now working remotely in a part-time capacity at a New Haven-based startup. Leigh earned a BA in Communications and Media Studies and an MA in Public Communications from Fordham University.

Spencer Ross and his wife Kelley are the parents of 2 children – one alum and one future LMI student. He is a graduate of Bryant University in Smithfield RI, with a BS in Business Administration. He is the current owner of Hot Pepper Promotions which specializes in promotional products/printing and apparel for businesses and organizations large and small – including LMI. 

Marissa A. Komack, Esq. is an Attorney specializing in real estate and landlord/tenant matters who practices in West Springfield, Massachusetts with her father. She is also a member of the Longmeadow Zoning Board of Appeals. She holds a Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Business Administration from Bay Path College and a Juris Doctor from University of Massachusetts School of Law at Dartmouth. She and her husband Kyle have two daughters – one who currently attends LMI and the other a future LMI student.  ​


Longmeadow Montessori Internationale’s Board of Directors is made up of parents whose children attend LMI, have worked on various projects for the school, and then joined the Board of Directors.

These dedicated parents help set policies for the school and help with finances, legalities, fundraising, and special events.

The Board provides leadership in support of LMI’s mission. Board Committees include: Executive Committee, Community Development Committee, Committee on Directors, and Finance/Long-Range Planning Committee. The Board also makes up Task Force Groups for: Tuition, 3-4 Year Planning, Auditing, Marketing, Annual Fund & Auction, Building & Facilities, and Health.

LMI’s Board of Directors meets monthly and parents are welcome to attend the first segment of each meeting. They would welcome any of your thoughts throughout the school year.
